It’s Jimmer time.
The Knicks decided to call up sharpshooting point guard and folk hero Jimmer Fredette on Friday. Fredette had been averaging 22 points on the Knicks’ D-League team and was named the MVP of the D-League All-Star Game last weekend. Fredette was the NCAA Player of the Year and Scoring Champion in 2011, and was the 10th pick in that year’s NBA draft. Fredette, 26, is a New York native. He will be on the roster beginning Monday.
The Knicks have fired head coach Derek Fisher.
Fisher went 40-96 as the coach of the Knicks after signing a 5-year, $25 Million deal in 2014.
The Knicks have lost five games in a row and nine of their last ten, and are on the verge of falling out of the playoff race.
Kurt Rambis will serve as the interim head coach.
Derrick Williams put on the greatest display of determination you will ever see in a
regular season game:
The reactions of everybody involved as this play progresses are awesome.
Knicks forward Cleanthony Early was shot outside a New York strip club on Wednesday morning following the team’s win over the Pistons on Tuesday night. Early, 24, is hospitalized in stable condition.
Early was reportedly in an Uber cab leaving the club when two vehicles boxed his car in and six men got out, demanding Early’s jewelry and, after he handed two gold chains over, shooting him in the right knee, which Early had surgery on last season.
Former Knick Chris Copeland was stabbed outside an NYC club in April. Early’s teammate Derrick Williams was reportedly robbed of $750,000 in jewelry earlier this month.
UPDATE: Early was released from the emergency unit and avoided major structural damage to his knee.
