Stoudemire Will Return Saturday.

Image

The New York Knicks expect to get their 100 million dollar man back Saturday, Coach Mike Woodson announced. Amar’e Stoudemire is set to return from his second knee surgery of the season. Woodson said Stoudemire would have his minutes monitored in his first game back.

“It won’t be very many minutes. I’m thinking somewhere between 10 and 15 minutes, if that. We have talked about [managing expectations]…I thought maybe we might have pushed a little too much early on, so we’ve got to be really cautious this time around — just to make sure that we’re doing the right things with him… it’s not that we didn’t think that when he came back the first time, but this time, we really have got to be cautious. He understands; he has no choice.”

Can the Knicks get Chris Paul? Technically, Yes.

You down with O.P.P.?

Other people’s players?

Yea, you are.

So that is why—despite the Knicks turning in their best season since 1996 and grabbing their first Atlantic Division title since 1994—Knicks fans are quietly reliving their elementary school math classes. Adding two and two together, subtracting a long-term extension and calculating whether (and how) the Knicks can some way end up with Chris Paul.

The short answer is yes, it is possible, though highly improbable.

How improbable?

Paul would likely have to be willing to accept less than the $18.7 million max. salary he could earn under the first year of his new deal. The Knicks would have to give up several players they would probably rather keep, and the Clippers would probably have to agree to a trade that may not suit them.

Maybe all of the above.

BREAKING: NBA SUSPENDS SMITH, AND MORE COULD BE ON THE WAY

Smith Suspended 1 Game, and Could Miss Future Games as Well.

Knicks Sixth Man J.R. Smith has been suspended 1 game for elbowing Jason Terry in game 3 of the Knicks-Celtics first round series. In addition to this suspension, Smith is in danger of future suspensions. There are 2 types of flagrant fouls: Flagrant 1 and Flagrant 2. A Flagrant 1 (unnecessary contact) earns a player 1 “Flagrant point”, while a Flagrant 2 (unnecessary and excessive contact) earns a player 2 “Flagrant points”. Smith was assessed a Flagrant 2 in last night’s game. After he serves his 1 game suspension during Sunday’s game 4, Smith could get suspended again, because Smith has 2 Flagrant points during the playoffs, and any player who gets 4 or more during one postseason receives an automatic suspension. Here are the NBA playoff Flagrant Foul suspension rules.

Player at 2 points commits a FFP2: automatic one-game suspension

Player at 3 or 4 points commits a FFP1: automatic one-game suspension

Player at 3 or 4 points commits a FFP2: automatic two-game suspension

Player at 5 points or more commits a FFP1 or FFP2: automatic two-game suspension

Sources: Knicks’ Stoudemire Planning Second-Round Return

                                                               STAT to return?

By Tommy Rothman

Knicks’ Power Forward Amar’e Stoudemire plans on returning if the Knicks make it to the second round of the playoffs. Stoudemire missed the first 2 months of the season before returning in January. After a slow start, Amar’e got his confidence and explosiveness back and started being a force inside for the Knicks. But injury struck again, and Stoudemire has been out since early March. It has been 6 weeks since his surgery… his timetable was 4-6 weeks.

If everything goes great [with rehabilitation], then I’m willing to play. Sooner than later, hopefully, if everything continues to improve…. Everything’s on schedule for the most part. I’ve got to continue to get stronger, got to get back on the court, start moving around at full speed…. And if I can handle that, then we go up a notch, that’s great. Then I’m looking [forward to] hopefully playing soon. We’ll see… If we continue to win, then that gives me more time to really heal up 100 percent. So that’s kind of the blessing that we have right now.

Rasheed won the hearts of NBA fans everywhere by playing hard by day and fighting crime by night.

Knicks forward Rasheed Wallace has retired from the NBA for the second time. Generally regarded as the greatest human being of all time, the 4-time All-Star will ride off into the sunset as an NBA champion and the all-time leader in technical fouls. “Sheed” missed most of the 2012-2013 season with a foot injury.

Rasheed has given this team everything he had. He is a winner, true professional and leader on and off the court. Due to his injury, he will not be available to play for us during the playoffs

– Knicks Coach Mike Woodson

Sheed’s retirement opens up a roster spot for the Knicks, who may or may not sign a player for the NBA playoffs.
