Knicks ball. Down 2. Get it to Melo? Right? Nah
The music is a really nice touch
James Dolan is the latest sports owner to find himself in hot water. The Knicks owner is facing charges from the National Labor Relations Board claiming that he threatened, illegally, to withhold pay increases from employees unless they voted to quit their union. Dolan runs the Knicks, Rangers, and Cablevision. You can read more about the case here
The NBA has suspended JR Smith after he hit Glen Rice Junior in the “groin” (yes, that means balls) in Tuesday night’s Knicks-Wizards game. Smith, who was suspended for five games last year after failing a drug test, will only be forced to miss one game this time around, at least as far as the NBA is concerned. As such, JR will not play in Wednesday night’s game against the Pistons (whose point guard, Brandon Jennings, was the recipient of hostile tweets from Smith which led to JR receiving a $25,000 fine last season). -Tommy Rothman
The GIF of the hit is below
José Calderón is off to, as Clyde Frazier would say, an “auspicious start” as a Knick.
The Spanish PG, acquired in the Tyson Chandler trade, was a late scratch from Wednesday’s home opener, but an MRI Thursday revealed a calf strain, which will cost Calderón 2-3 weeks (at least… you never know with the Knicks). This is frustrating for Knicks fans; Calderón is an important player, he cost us our best interior defender (and our interior defense is looking suspect so far), and these kinds of injuries can be nagging. Hopefully Shane Larkin steps up in José’s absence, and Calderón can return before too long. -Tommy Rothman
