BREAKING: Knicks Fire Mike Woodson, Entire Coaching Staff

Image

The Knicks announced Monday that they have fired head coach Mike Woodson and his entire staff. This includes Herb Williams and Jim Todd. It is Phil Jackson’s first major move as the Knicks’ President. Here’s what Jackson had to say:

“I have a tremendous amount of respect for Mike Woodson and his entire staff. The coaches and players on this team had an extremely difficult 2013-14 season, and blame should not be put on one individual. But the time has come for change throughout the franchise as we start the journey to assess and build this team for next season and beyond. Everyone in this franchise owes a great deal of gratitude to what Mike and his staff have done. We wish him the best.”

We knew this was coming, guys. At least, we knew Mike was on his way out. I wasn’t so sure about the rest of the staff but… time to move on.

BREAKING: Knicks Sign Lamar Odom

Image

The Knicks have signed Lamar Odom to a contract that covers tonight’s season finale (although Odom will not play) and has a team option for next season, which the Knicks will pick up if they determine that Odom is in shape and can contribute over the coming months. Odom is a savvy, versatile veteran who won two championships under new Knicks President Phil Jackson in Los Angeles, and if Odom can put his recent off-court issues behind him, he can definitely bring something to the team. If the Knicks don’t want to keep Odom, they can use his non-guaranteed salary for next season as a trade chip for a team looking to either pick up Odom or trade a guaranteed salary for him and save some money. Odom can provide veteran leadership, which the Knicks lacked this season. Nothing to lose here, so I like the move.

Pregame Report: Knicks vs Raptors

Image

Well, here we are…

The Knicks (36-45) will host the Toronto Raptors (48-33) at Madison Square Garden in tonight’s season finale. Gametime is 8 PM.

Pablo Prigioni, Iman Shumpert, JR Smith, Amar’e Stoudemire, and Cole Aldrich will start for the Knicks tonight. Carmelo Anthony, Tyson Chandler, Raymond Felton, Andrea Bargnani, and Kenyon Martin will not play.

This season has been disappointing, but the Knicks have won 3 in a row against solid teams and can finish the year on a high note by making it 4 tonight.

Enjoy this game, because we won’t be seeing our Knicks in regular season games for the next 6 months. Let’s get one last win.
