                   Smith Suspended 1 Game, and Could Miss Future Games as Well.

Knicks Sixth Man J.R. Smith has been suspended 1 game for elbowing Jason Terry in game 3 of the Knicks-Celtics first round series. In addition to this suspension, Smith is in danger of future suspensions. There are 2 types of flagrant fouls: Flagrant 1 and Flagrant 2. A Flagrant 1 (unnecessary contact) earns a player 1 “Flagrant point”, while a Flagrant 2 (unnecessary and excessive contact) earns a player 2 “Flagrant points”. Smith was assessed a Flagrant 2 in last night’s game. After he serves his 1 game suspension during Sunday’s game 4, Smith could get suspended again, because Smith has 2 Flagrant points during the playoffs, and any player who gets 4 or more during one postseason receives an automatic suspension. Player at 2 points commits a FFP2: automatic one-game suspension

Player at 3 or 4 points commits a FFP1: automatic one-game suspension

Player at 3 or 4 points commits a FFP2: automatic two-game suspension

Player at 5 points or more commits a FFP1 or FFP2: automatic two-game suspension

    If LeBron did that to Terry, terry would have been fined for flopping and gotten a technical for going after him. Typical NBA Bias.

    …you can see that terry punched j.r. in the groin area .. when he tried to steal the ball (ok .. that sounds weird) but i think j.r. got a little bit frustrated and wanted to shake terry off! and you’re right .. if someone like smith would hit you with an elbow, you would stay down for a while! really don’t like that terry guy! flopping sissy!

    If they are following the rules they really need to look at this. Jason Terry barely got touched. Even Boston fans saw it. If he really got hit with the elbow he would be hurt. JR SMith is not a little guy. He is 6’6″ and not tiny. That is definetely an abuse of the rules and something that needs to be investigated further. Flopping is a rule that they said they were going to be enforcing, but that’s not happening. Suspend him one game and fine Jason Terry and all will be good.
